Prompt: How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation.

Prompt Response: I feel that in the film version of Into the Wild humanizes Chris McCandless more than the book does. The film adaptation shows much deeper interactions with the people he meets along the way. This makes his character more relatable to the audience and also makes his character more emotional compared to the book. When I first heard about the conflict with Iran, I sort of brushed it off and thought nothing of it. However when researching it, i grew more sympathetic toward the Iranian people because many of them are innocent people whose lives are being disrupted and possibly lost.

Summary: In class we watched another section of the Into the Wild film adaptation and answered questions about it.

Reflection: The film is less descriptive compared to the book but depicts Chris McCandless's character in a much deeper way.
