Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?
Prompt Response: Based on chapter 1, I do not believe McCandless understood what he was getting into. His body was very decomposed when it was found which indicates that he was dead for a while before being found. Second he only weighed about 67 pounds when he his body was taken for an autopsy which shows that he did not have sufficient food with him and most likely died to starvation. I believe that he though it was going to be like a camping trip, so he did not bring that much stuff with him. This ultimately led to his death.
Summary: We read chapter 1 and that's it.
Reflection: I found chapter one to be interesting but that's about it.
